Training
Training Prep-Work Information: Most of our module trainings will have prep-work you will be asked to complete prior to attending, instructions will be sent via email.
Candidate Status Time-frame: You will have 2 years from your Module 1 training to complete your program requirements and submit a final application for full certification.
Supervision
In addition to the training modules, CSAT/ASAT and CPTT/APTT Candidates are required to complete supervision with an approved IITAP Supervisor. For those completing our CCBRT or PSAP programs, there will be no supervision requirement.
A directory of supervisors can be found on the IITAP homepage under Find A Therapist; if you're signed in, you can also access the directory by clicking here. IITAP does not manage fees or payments related to supervision, so you will need to discuss this directly with your Supervisor.
Specific Supervision Requirements:
- FOR CSAT/ASAT Candidates
- 8 hours of supervision is required prior to the start of Module 3.
- 15 hours total is required prior to the start of Module 4.
- FOR CPTT/APTT Candidates
- 5 hours of supervision is required prior to the start of Module 2.
Of the required hours needed for final certification, at least 5 hours must be face-to-face (individual or group, in-person or via webcam). More details can be found on your program's group page. Please email training@iitap.com with additional supervision questions.
Certification Process
Once you’ve completed your training and supervision, you will need to submit a final application for full certification. All candidates will need to submit updated copies of their professional license and resume with their application. If a new degree has been earned since your initial training application, please be prepared to submit verification of your degree as well. In addition to the documents noted above:
- Your primary IITAP Supervisor will need to submit the Final Consultation Evaluation form confirming you have completed your hours of supervision.
- You will also need three letters of recommendation from professional colleagues.
A member of the IITAP team will review your application and make the final determination on whether you are eligible for the ASAT/APTT, CSAT/CPTT, or CCBRT/ACBRT designations.
If you are initially certified as an ASAT, APTT, or ACBRT you can have your certification updated to CSAT/CPTT/CCBRT once you meet the necessary criteria without any additional training, applications, or fees. Simply reach out to our office with current copies of your new license and updated resume.
When fully certified, your certificate will be valid for 2 years. You will receive your first renewal notice 45 days prior to your certificate’s expiration date with instructions on how to complete your renewal online. You will also need to complete 15 IITAP CEs prior to your certificate’s expiration date.
